Word on the street is, you’re in love, which means we already have something in common and can fast forward through at least a little bit of the “hi, we have 2 kids and a dog child and use coffee as a survival tool” type small talk to get to the deeper things of life - because guys? We’re just a couple of romantics over here who get a little over excited watching people share their most pivotal life moments with their people.
Since we’ve already prepared you with the facts (meaning, we’re a couple of sappy love nuts), we might as well just get into the ish. We’ve been doing this marriage thing for 8 years, and watching others do it (you know, as a career type thing) for 5, so here’s what we’ve learned about the whole love business. Maybe you can relate.
Love is all the contradictory feelings. It’s the I don’t want to’s but I will’s. The I don’t like you so much right now, but it doesn’t matter because I’ll always love you’s. The “sure, you can totally have the window seat” even though the middle seat is the worst.
Love is the daily giving up of “your” life for the “our life.”
That little logo you’ve seen popping around our website was designed with these contradictory feelings in mind. Some people immediately start relating it to what we do (which is wedding photography, in case you’ve been blindly clicking around and weren’t sure), so they see a heart, or diamond. Others see a simple culmination of graphics simply meant to please the eye. When it comes down to it. That’s exactly what we want. A whole bunch of pieces, each worn a little bit around the edges that, when they come together, make people feel in their own way. That’s the art of photography. That’s the art of storytelling.
After all, what’s the point of having your wedding day documented if it feels nothing like who you ARE or how it felt to get married when you look back on your album? We want to awaken those senses in a new way every time you experience new versions of life – add dog children and real children, loved ones passing, life evolving.
We’re immortalizing memories, here.
Wanna talk about the elephant in the room? We know there’s that little piece of you that’s worried about the, totally out of anyone except Ted Mosby’s control, weather- and can we be honest with you? It could be a clear and cloudless day, or a rather moody and misty one, it really truly totally and completely does not matter what kind of elements you end up with (and we’ve spent a lot of time making pictures in the rain, lemme tell ya). The weather tells as much of a story about the day as the day itself which means we’ve learned to use whatever lighting elements we have available to focus in on all those pieces we talked about earlier. It’s actually what we do best. We’ve been called “moment ninja’s” and even aside from Ben’s dance floor high kicks, we relate pretty hard to that sentiment.
Pretty pictures aren’t just there to make your eyes feel good. It’s the ones that draw you in and feed those happy eyes a big juicy (grassfed or vegan depending on your preferences) cheeseburger that really matter. Images that satisfy your senses and feed into your nostalgia bank.
All that to say, regardless of the weather, crazy Aunt Jo Jo, or a schedule that’s running behind, the romantic in us we’ve been harping on through this series of hey, this is who we are web page stuff, is that we will spend the day pointing you back to what’s important so it doesn’t get lost with 3rd Groomsmens socks. We gotchoo, and we’re going to pull out all the stops, before and during your wedding day, to ensure you feel at ease – oh and that you stay hydrated and remember to do the breathing thing.
